Welcome to Our College
Newman College is an institution of higher education, established, owned and administered by the diocese of Kothamangalam. It is named after John Henry Cardinal Newman, one of the greatest luminaries of all times in the field of higher education.ealising the great necessity of a central institution of higher studies for the thousands of students stepping each year out of the numerous high schools in Thodupuzha area.
His Excellency Rt. Rev. Dr. Mathew Pothanamuzhy, the then Bishop of Kothamangalam decided to establish a college at Thodupuzha.
Newman College is the leading college in the Idukki District, with 5 post graduate courses imparting higher education for over 100 students of this backward district. Newman has 86 members on the teaching staff and 37 on the non-teaching staff.

Our College is now 48 years old and the Golden Jubilee celebration are just two years away. As we are on the threshold of major milestone, it becomes an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the noble values cherished by our founding father. Let us thank God Almighty and express our deep gratitude to our founder Patron late Bishop Mar Mathew Pothanamuzhy, the present Patron Bishop Mar George Punnakottil and the Manager Very Rev. Msgr. Thomas Malekudy for their vision....."
