The first Principal Rev. Dr. Theobald C.M.I. took charge.

Rt. Rev. Mgr. Mathew Vellankal took over as Manager in the place of Rt. Rev. Mgr. Kuriakose Nambiaparambil.

NAAC (National Assessment & Accreditation Council, Bangalore - An autonomous institution of the UGC) Peer team consisting of Prof. M. Lekshmanan, formerly V.C. Madurai Kamaraj University.  Dr. S. Indhumathi, Professor of Economics, University of Mysore and Dr. C. Thangamuthu, Professor, Department of Economics, Bharathidasan University, Thiruchirappilly visited the college for assessment and accreditation.

The College was accredited by NAAC at Three Star Level for a period of 5 years w.e.f. the academic year 1999-2000.

Indian Journal of Post Colonial Literature, started publishing by the department of English.

Prof. T. Ousepachan, Principal went on deputation as Principal of College of Applied Sciences, Thodupuzha.  Prof. K.A. Aprem took charge as Principal.

Rs. 3 Lakhs sanctioned from the M.P. Fund of Sri. K. Francis George, M.P. for the purchase of Computers.  The Computer Lab inaugurated by Sri. K. Francis George M.P.

The first 'Rev. Dr. John Vallamattom Memorial Lecture, (originally Foundation Day Lecture) delivered by H.E. Sri. M.M. Jacob, Governor of Meghalaya.

The historical Visit of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, President of India to the institution.  The Karshikamela jointly organised by the Gandhiji Study Center and the college, inaugurated by His Excellency.

Refurbished college auditorium dedicated to the student community by Rt. Rev. Mar George Punnakottil, the Patron.

National integration Camp of National Cadet Corps with over 500 participants from all over India, hosted by the college.

The Peer Team of National assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) consisting of Dr. B.S. Sherigara, Vice Chancellor, Kuvempu University, Shimoga, Karnataka (Chair person), Dr. V. Sujatha, Principal, Cauvery College for Women, Thiruchirappilly, Tamilnadu (Co-ordinator), and Dr. Mrs. V. Rajani, H.O.D. of English, St. Theresa's College, Eluru, West Godawari, Andhra Pradesh (Member), visited the college for reassessment and re-accreditation.

The National Assessment and Accreditation Council of the University Grants Commission re-accredited the college at 'A' grade, on the basis of the recommendations of the three-member Peer Team.
